The Daily Spotter

Good morning. Saturday's inbox is quieter than Thursday's Salesforce meltdown, but HubSpot still dropped a free Claude sales plugin that lives inside your CRM chat. Plus a wave of Marketplace apps aimed at messy portals, and a few Ideas posts every ops lead will want to upvote before Monday.

In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into:

  • HubSpot shipped a free Sales Plugin for Claude with call prep, pipeline pulse, and follow-up drafts that write back to the CRM.
  • Template Manager and CleanMerge hit the Marketplace for cloning portal setup and warehouse syncs without spawning duplicates.
  • Admins are begging for a global workflow kill switch so bulk data cleanups stop lighting up every automation.

GROW & CONVERT

📬 Eleven bounces out of 55. The list was the problem, not the subject line. A marketer's first HubSpot campaign bounced about one in five contacts, mostly people who had changed jobs since the old CRM export. Before you push the rest of that batch, scrub hard bounces and role-change emails out of the active list, then send a smaller re-engagement wave. Importing a cold file and hoping for the best is how deliverability slides before week two.

📊 Goal reporting still shuffles itself like a deck of cards. Inside goal reporting, rows land in what looks like a random order. You cannot sort by owner name, percent attained, or volume, which makes Monday pipeline reviews slower than they need to be. An Ideas post asks HubSpot to add basic sorting on goal reports. If your sales VP screenshots that page every week, this one is worth a vote.

🧼 CleanMerge wants to sync your warehouse without cloning half the CRM. Vain Agency's CleanMerge just landed in the Marketplace with a promise marketers hear weekly: push warehouse data into HubSpot without creating a second contact for every match. It also ships a cleanup action for records that are already a mess. If your Monday ritual is merging duplicates after every sync, this is aimed at that exact headache. Install count is still tiny, so treat it as a trial, not a silver bullet.

🌡️ ZeroBounce Warmup will baby your sender before you blast. ZeroBounce Warmup is new in the Marketplace and hooks into HubSpot to warm marketing senders plus automate seed engagement. Handy if you just moved domains, spun up a new subdomain, or inherited a portal with a bruised reputation. Pair it with a real list scrub first - warming a dirty list only teaches inbox providers you are consistent about bad habits.

MONEY & OPS

💳 Payment Links forget the product SKU. Subscriptions inherit the amnesia. Teams building Payment Links through the API say line items drop their hs_product_id and SKU ties, so the Subscription that follows has no catalog link either. Discounts on recurring products can also return a 500, and one-off fees are awkward to model. If revenue reporting depends on product IDs, read the full bug list before you automate checkout. Name matching as a fallback is fragile at scale.

📄 Breeze builds the artifact. Dashboards still will not take it. An ops lead used Breeze to build a document that shows which deal stage came right before Lost, and the pull was perfect. The blocker: you still cannot drop that artifact onto a HubSpot dashboard like a normal report. Until HubSpot bridges the gap, ask for artifact widgets on dashboards or rebuild the same insight with custom properties and events. AI that cannot live where the team looks is just a pretty sidebar.

🎫 Ticket merges always keep the primary owner's name. The wizard lies. When two tickets merge, HubSpot keeps the Ticket Owner from the primary record even if you pick the other owner in the wizard. Every other property can follow the selection; ownership quietly ignores it. Support teams that route and report by owner then spend the afternoon fixing the merge by hand. Vote to honor the owner choice on merge, or at least let admins set a default.

TOOLS & WORKFLOWS

📦 Template Manager copies properties, workflows, and forms in the right order. NetSpinner's Template Manager is new in the Marketplace and built for agencies that rebuild the same portal setup over and over. Capture properties, workflows, segments, and forms from one account, then deploy them elsewhere with dynamic variables like CampaignName. It also talks to AI assistants over MCP. If your onboarding checklist is still a spreadsheet of objects to recreate by hand, this is worth a look.

🛑 One cleanup. Forty workflows. Zero global pause button. A new admin inherited a five-year-old portal and needs to backfill status on 900+ custom-object records. Every status change fires workflows, and those feed segments that fire more workflows. Today the only fix is hunting each automation and adding an exclusion list by hand. The Ideas ask is simple: a global workflow exclusion so bulk cleanups can run without lighting up the whole graph. AI context makes dirty data louder, so this keeps getting more urgent.

🙏 Closed tickets reopen for a thank-you. Support wants them to stay closed. Customers often reply with a quick thanks after a ticket is done, which reopens the case and bumps the queue again. HubSpot's Data Agent cannot read that last conversation line from a standard ticket property. Support sketched two paths: park the latest message on a custom property via the Conversations API, or pull it in custom code before the agent runs. Either way, auto-close thank-you reopeners still needs a DIY bridge.

📞 ElevenLabs put an AI receptionist on the Marketplace. Reception by ElevenAgents is live and wires an AI phone receptionist into HubSpot contacts and workflows. Missed-call coverage and after-hours intake are the obvious use cases for lean sales teams. As with any voice bot, test how it writes contacts and tasks before you point your main number at it. ElevenLabs is doing the voice; HubSpot still owns the CRM side effects.

SHIPPED

🤖 HubSpot dropped a free Sales Plugin for Claude. Eight skills, one chat. The new HubSpot Sales Plugin for Claude is free and installs in a couple of minutes. Slash commands cover call prep, a daily brief, logging calls in plain language, drafting follow-ups that save back to HubSpot, pipeline pulse, contact lookup, and CSV contact import with dedupe. Claude shows every write before it commits. If you already use the connector, grab the sales plugin for the pre-built skills layered on.
