The Daily Spotter

Good morning. Thursday was the kind of day Salesforce admins will tell stories about, as HubSpot's sync quietly unplugged itself for most of the working day. Meanwhile a small settings change is eating pipeline history, and Gartner handed HubSpot another trophy. Coffee first, then audits.

In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into:

  • HubSpot's Salesforce sync was down for about eight hours Thursday, so check that every MQL actually reached sales.
  • New pipeline stages no longer record time in stage unless you switch it on, and the gap cannot be backfilled later.
  • Gartner named Marketing Hub a Leader for the sixth year, with HubSpot's AI agents doing most of the bragging.

GROW & CONVERT

🏆 HubSpot is a Gartner Leader again, and the receipts are mostly AI. Gartner named Marketing Hub a Leader in its B2B marketing automation Magic Quadrant for the sixth year running. HubSpot's own list of reasons reads like this fall's launch deck: Campaign, Content and Nurture agents, AEO tracking for AI answer engines, and the first CRM hookup with ChatGPT Ads. Handy ammo if finance is asking whether to renew, less handy as a to-do list.

🧠 Context Home reads your whole upload, not just the box you meant. Context Home is the page where HubSpot keeps what it thinks it knows about your business, and it is on every tier. One agency uploaded fresh ICP and persona docs expecting a single section to change, and got suggestions for sections nobody touched, product descriptions included. If Breeze and Nurture Agent really draw on this page, blank or stale fields will leak into what they write.

📣 The campaign beta wants to build your landing page. You may not need it. A SaaS team prepping a launch found that the new beta campaign flow, with email templates plus ads on ChatGPT and LinkedIn, also wants to generate landing pages. Their pages already live on Vercel with the HubSpot tracking code installed, so they asked whether that step can be skipped. Before launch day, make sure those outside domains are listed in your tracking settings so attribution holds up.

MONEY & OPS

🔌 The Salesforce sync went dark for eight hours. Check what never crossed. HubSpot's Salesforce integration disconnected for some accounts on Thursday from 9:26 AM to 5:21 PM ET, and even vanished from the App Marketplace for a while. HubSpot blamed a bad system configuration change and says data will refresh now that it is back. Don't take that on faith: one admin on Reddit is facing 15,000 records to resync, so spot-check the MQLs that should have reached sales.

⏱️ New pipeline stages stopped tracking time in stage. Go flip the switch. Stage calculated properties such as date entered and time in stage are now off by default for new pipelines and stages, across deals, tickets and custom objects. Nothing breaks today, but months from now the velocity report has a hole you can never backfill. The fix takes seconds: in pipeline settings, turn stage calculated properties on for every stage you added this year.

🔐 Two super admins, one login loop, and no way back in. A three-seat jewelry studio has spent two weeks locked out of its own HubSpot account. A two-factor loop on a new laptop pushed one admin to switch off 2FA, which locked out both admins, and the emailed codes never arrive. The lesson for small teams: add a third admin on a different inbox and keep backup codes somewhere offline before you ever need them.

🧹 One cleanup before January? Leave the duplicates for last. An ops lead planning a single Q4 cleanup made a solid case for doing it in order. Fix stage definitions first, then records owned by departed reps or nobody, then make sure only one system writes to each field, and only then start merging duplicates, since merge rules depend on the first three. Quick tell: the column your sales VP keeps in a side spreadsheet is usually where the rot starts.

➕ Plus-address clones are quietly wrecking contact reports. Some reps who need a second deal for an existing customer are creating a whole new contact with plus addressing on the same mailbox, just to get past the duplicate check. Now one person has three records, split history and different lifecycle stages. Remind the team that one contact can hold as many deals as you like, and merge the clones rather than deleting them so the deals survive.

TOOLS & WORKFLOWS

💳 One Stripe product with two prices is tripping up Data Sync. A SaaS team with four per-seat tiers, each sold monthly and annually, hit a mapping snag. Stripe keeps one product ID with separate price IDs, while their HubSpot product library has a SKU for each version. They are asking how to map SKUs to Stripe price IDs cleanly. Keying on the price ID, since that is what actually bills, looks like the saner route, but test a renewal first.

🗂️ The association picker needs a declutter button. In portals packed with custom objects, ERP syncs and Commerce Hub records, the association picker lists every object type even when users only ever touch four of them. A new Ideas post asks HubSpot to let admins hide or reorder object types, with optional visibility by team or role. If your reps scroll past a dozen objects just to reach Deals, this one deserves your vote.

🎫 Yes, you can keep year-old tickets out of the customer portal. An admin wanted old tickets gone from the customer portal entirely, not just filterable by the customer. The first reply said it could not be done, but a later one pointed to the portal's ticket visibility settings, where a property filter decides which tickets customers can see. A create date or close date rule should do the job. Test it with a dummy contact before customers notice anything missing.

SHIPPED

🎙️ WhatsApp voice notes work in the Inbox beta, but not through the API. The new Inbox beta lets agents record and send WhatsApp voice notes straight from HubSpot, and it works fine. Teams running WhatsApp-first sales tried sending the same audio files from workflows and custom integrations, got a failure every time, and support confirmed the API is not at parity yet. If automated voice follow-ups are on your roadmap, keep them manual for now and vote for the fix.

ON THE CALENDAR

📅 Confused by credits? HubSpot's pricing team takes questions Tuesday. Credits now power a growing list of HubSpot features, agents included, and budgeting for them is still guesswork for plenty of teams. The Dublin HUG is hosting a free virtual session on how credits work on Tuesday, Sep 29 at 11 AM ET, with someone from HubSpot's pricing and packaging team plus live Q&A. It is open to anyone, not just people in Dublin.
