The Daily Spotter

Hello there. A quieter Monday on the HubSpot side: community threads fill the gap while official product posts stay thin. Merchants are comparing email engagement to Mailchimp, untangling personal versus work accounts, and waiting on Academy practicum grades that are past the usual window.

In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into:

  • A marketer sees much lower engagement in HubSpot email than the same list saw in Mailchimp and is looking for causes.
  • Someone set up a free personal HubSpot account that still shows their employer name and cannot clear the company domain.
  • Academy students report practicum grades stuck past seven business days and task exercises that will not mark complete.

GROW & CONVERT

📉 Much lower engagement in HubSpot email than in Mailchimp. A community member reports weaker opens and clicks in HubSpot than the same program saw in Mailchimp. The original post was later deleted by the author, but the question still matters if you migrated recently: deliverability, list hygiene, send domain warm-up and template choice all come up when engagement drops after a platform switch. If you made the same move, compare authentication and engagement reports before you rewrite the creative.

🗂️ How do you keep the whole marketing plan in one view? A marketer is still asking how teams keep strategy, campaigns and channels visible across the year: quarterly focus, messages, budgets and seasonal timing. Spreadsheets get messy fast, and they are open to tools outside HubSpot. If you have a working overview that ties roadmap to day-to-day work, the thread wants concrete examples.

MONEY & OPS

👤 Personal HubSpot account still shows the employer company. A user created a free HubSpot account for personal use separate from work, but the company name and domain still match their employer, with only their user listed and no connected apps. Clearing the company domain returns cannot be blank. They want to know whether the account is truly personal or still linked. Useful if you maintain a sandbox beside a client portal and hit the same company-field trap.

🔌 Legacy API replacements still unclear before the 2027 cutoffs. An app partner is still mapping date-based replacements for legacy endpoints and cannot resolve a few gaps from the docs alone, including cutoff dates that disagree between the changelog and the Migrations tab. If you maintain HubSpot apps, keep pressure on the missing replacements before end-of-support dates land.

TOOLS & WORKFLOWS

⏳ Academy practicum grades stuck past seven business days. A student submitted the practical part of an API module two weeks ago and still has no grade, past the usual seven business day window. Nearby threads also report the Create a Task From a Contact Record exercise refusing to mark complete even when the task sits on the contact. If you are mid-certification, document timestamps and screenshots before you open a support ticket.

✅ Create a Task exercise will not mark complete in Practice Mode. Another Academy learner built the task on the Jennifer Lopez contact in portal 443774023, filled every dropdown, and still gets a 400 loop or an exercise-not-completed state on submit. The task shows as upcoming on the record. Two separate threads describe the same Practice Mode snag, so treat it as a known Academy hiccup rather than a one-off mistake.

ON THE CALENDAR

🤝 Join a HubSpot User Group to learn from peers. HubSpot's HubSpot User Groups page lists virtual and in-person HUGs where practitioners share best practices. If you want local peer advice beyond community threads, pick a group near you and check the next meetup date.
