The Daily Spotter

Hello there. HubSpot just gave customers real AI budget controls: spend caps on by default, seat-to-credit swaps without waiting for renewal, and flex ways to buy credits. Add new Sheets and Postgres connectors for Breeze, and Friday is about keeping AI costs predictable.

In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into:

  • HubSpot turned AI spend controls on by default, with account credit limits, seat-to-credit swaps and pack or pay-as-you-go credit buying.
  • New Marketplace connectors let Breeze read and update Google Sheets and sync both ways with PostgreSQL.
  • Admins still want quieter Customer Portal emails and clearer answers on whether a Salesforce API security change will break HubSpot sync.

SHIPPED

💳 HubSpot adds AI spend caps, seat swaps and flex credit buying. HubSpot published new controls for AI spend. Spend caps are on by default, with an account-level credit limit up to 50% above monthly credits so agents can work without surprise invoices. Customers can swap seats for credits (or another seat type) without waiting for renewal, set limits at feature and action level, and buy credit packs for a flat monthly rate or pay as they go for usage beyond the included credits.

📋 September-October product community release notes are out. HubSpot posted September-October 2026 Product Community release notes, including a New topic button in the top navigation so people can ask a question, share an idea or start a discussion without hunting through the community chrome. Worth a skim if you track portal UX changes that hit every admin.

TOOLS & WORKFLOWS

📊 Google Sheets Connector lands for Breeze. HubSpot published a Google Sheets Connector in the Marketplace so Breeze can read and update Google Sheets data and formulas directly. Handy when your team still keeps working lists in Sheets and wants agents to use that data without a custom middleware build.

🗄️ PostgreSQL connector syncs both ways with the CRM. A new PostgreSQL connector by HubSpot syncs data between your Postgres database and HubSpot CRM in both directions, with no ETL layer called out in the listing. Useful if product or finance data already lives in Postgres and you want CRM objects to stay aligned.

➕ Idea: Create new when search or association lookup finds nothing. An idea asks HubSpot to offer Create new inside search and association lookups when no contact, company or deal matches. Today users often have to leave the picker, create the record elsewhere, then come back. Small UX change, big time save on messy data entry days.

GROW & CONVERT

✉️ Customer Portal emails still cannot be customized or turned off. A team using Customer Portal for tickets says system emails for new portal messages cannot be edited or disabled, so branding drifts and workflow notifications sometimes double up. They want toggles, custom subjects, recipient control and a changeable From address. If you have found a supported workaround, the thread needs it.

🔗 Will Salesforce API security updates break HubSpot sync? An admin saw Salesforce rolling out new API security changes and cannot get a straight answer on whether the HubSpot Salesforce sync will keep working. IT owns the connector, and a Friday break would hurt. If you have confirmation from HubSpot or Salesforce on this window, share it before someone spends the weekend firefighting.

🏷️ Idea: expose workflow name as a usable variable. A request asks for workflow-related variables such as Workflow Name in Slack alerts and emails, so messages can say which automation fired without hard-coding the name into every action. Small for HubSpot, useful when one portal runs dozens of near-identical flows.

MONEY & OPS

🔒 Stop blending empty associations with permission errors. An idea wants HubSpot to split the vague No associated objects message into either nothing exists or you lack permission. The system already knows which case it is. Clearer copy would save admins from chasing phantom records when the real issue is access.

🧾 Quotes from a company should only list associated deals. When creating a quote from a company record, the deal dropdown can show every deal in the portal instead of only associated ones. Users then hunt for the right deal by hand. Filtering to associated deals would cut quote mistakes on busy sales days.

ON THE CALENDAR

👥 Join a HubSpot User Group to learn from peers. HubSpot still points practitioners to HubSpot User Groups for virtual and in-person peer learning on best practices. If your local or vertical group is meeting soon, the directory is the place to find it.
