The Daily Spotter

Hello there. Tuesday in HubSpot land is about control: admins want Breeze to read the CRM without editing it, stop enrichment from overwriting good data, and keep Prospecting Agent from spending credits on leads outside their region. There is also a beginner's lead scoring recipe, two new Marketplace apps, and HubSpot developer meetups in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

In today’s newsletter, we’ll get into:

  • Community replies say Breeze follows each user's CRM permissions, so removing edit rights blocks its writes, and enrichment can be set to fill empty values only.
  • An idea asks for geography limits in Prospecting Agent because credits are spent on non-US ZoomInfo contacts even when nobody contacts them.
  • A small team gets a simple fit plus engagement lead scoring setup, Sequence and Convarza join the Marketplace, and Build Mode meetups run Oct 7 in SF and Oct 14 in LA.

GROW & CONVERT

🎯 A starter lead scoring setup for a three-person team. A new HubSpot user asked which properties to score first in the free CRM. The reply: build a combined score with fit criteria such as job title, industry and company size matched to your ideal customer, plus engagement signals such as page views, form submissions and marketing email clicks. HubSpot Academy's new short makes the same case for ranking who deserves your next call.

🌍 Prospecting Agent spends credits on contacts you will never work. A team using Prospecting Agent with ZoomInfo wants a geography filter for automatically sourced contacts. Exclusion lists only apply to existing HubSpot contacts, global target accounts cannot simply be excluded, and credits are used as soon as non-US contacts appear, even with Review before sending turned on. Their only workaround is switching off automatic sourcing. Add your vote to the idea if that sounds familiar.

🧭 Can a beginner reach $1,000 a month freelancing in HubSpot? An almost-21-year-old with no corporate or CRM background asks whether $1,000 a month within six months is realistic as a HubSpot freelancer. They also want to know which HubSpot Academy courses and certifications to take first, and what mock projects would show them what a normal working day looks like. Consultants who started from scratch have useful answers to give.

MONEY & OPS

🔒 Keep Breeze for lookups without letting it edit records. After an audit found unwanted bulk edits, an admin asked how to make Breeze Assistant read-only for a non-technical team. A reply says Breeze inherits each user's permissions, so set edit, create and delete rights to None on objects they should only view, then test by asking Breeze to bulk-update a record. Connected apps' write tools can also be set to Never allow.

🧹 Stop enrichment from overwriting contact data you trust. An admin saw enrichment move Michigan contacts to Georgia because their company is based in Atlanta, and swap first and last names. Replies point to Settings, Data Enrichment, Mapping, where you can choose Fill empty values only, plus an option to overwrite incorrect enrichment values. A community manager also recommends the property mapping section of the enrichment settings guide.

📝 The Reporting certification exam is tripping people up. A Reddit user is on a second attempt at the HubSpot Reporting exam after scoring 43 the first time. They say the practice quizzes did not cover the final exam topics and that many answer options are full of jargon. If you passed it, a few tips on what to study would help anyone stuck on the same certification.

🗄️ A HubSpot Community AI group closes on October 12. HubSpot says one of its AI community groups will be archived on October 12, 2026, with all of its content closed off at that point. New AI questions should go to other categories such as Breeze and Other AI-Powered Features. If you bookmarked useful threads there, save what you need this week.

TOOLS & WORKFLOWS

🧩 Two new Marketplace apps cover deal billing and AI calling. New in the HubSpot Marketplace: Sequence by Sequence HQ, which promises to quote any HubSpot deal and bill it automatically. Also new is Convarza from Profunnel Technologies, offering integrated dialing, AI calling agents and call insights. Both listings went live on Oct 5, so check reviews and install counts before you put either in front of a sales team.

🔔 Mentions on Help Desk tickets do not reach the mobile app. A user found that mentioning a colleague on a Help Desk ticket sends no mobile notification, even when the setting is switched on, and HubSpot Support confirmed it is a product limitation. That hurts teams where support pulls in field sales reps who rarely sit at a desktop. If your service and sales teams share tickets, add your vote.

✍️ An idea asks for bulk author changes on blog posts. A team managing hundreds of posts wants to bulk assign or reassign blog authors straight from the Blog Posts table, the same way tags and campaigns can already be bulk edited. Right now each post has to be changed by hand. Another idea asks HubSpot to show account notices, such as marketing contact limits or apps being removed, to admins only.

ON THE CALENDAR

🛠️ Build Mode meetups land in San Francisco and Los Angeles. HubSpot Developers invites anyone with an AI agent idea to Build Mode at Tech Week: small-group discussions with builders and the HubSpot product team, then a social hour. San Francisco is Oct 7 and Los Angeles is Oct 14, both from 3 to 7 PM. Spots are reserved through the comments on the post.
